Retirement

CalPERS Miscellaneous retirement:
Classic employee 3% @ 60, PEPRA employee 2% @ 62

Health Benefits

CalPERS health insurance offering variety of HMO's and PPO's. The District contributes 92% of the health plan premium, and the employee is responsible for the remaining 8% of the premium for the whole family up to $3,005.91 per month. Dental and vision insurance are also paid by the District.

Life Insurance

$20,000 for the first probationary year and $100,000 thereafter.

Leave

PTO - 12.43 hours / month

Sick Leave - 17.22 hours / month

Holiday - 12 designated holidays per year

Childbirth Disability Leave - 6 weeks of paid leave after the birth of a child during the disability period

Incentives

Education Incentive - Up to 10.5% max

Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Assistant Logistics Manager, controls inventory of supplies, materials, parts and equipment; receives, inspects, stores, issues, and delivers materials, supplies, and equipment; performs inventory processes; repairs fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) equipment; maintain physical fitness condition standards required to perform satisfactory physical requirements of the position; maintain driver’s license applicable to the position; performs other duties as required.

    Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of the job.

  • Receives, identifies, stores, issues, retrieves, and delivers by vehicle supplies, materials, parts, and equipment; determines immediate and estimates future supply needs and orders stock as required; keeps shelves and goods clean and neatly arranged.
  • Operates hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts in the movement of supplies.
  • Maintains records and inventories; confers with vendor as required; prepares reports.
  • Reviews, identifies, evaluates, and repairs mechanical failures in fire equipment such as fire hose, fire extinguishers, ladders, hand lights, and other fire equipment, tools, or protective clothing.
  • Performs duties related to care and maintenance of protective ensembles for structural firefighting.
  • Other related duties as assigned by manager.
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and a physical to include a drug screen.

    The education or experience requirements may be modified or waived at the sole discretion of the Fire Chief. At least one of the education or experience requirements must be met; both requirements cannot be modified or waived. The Sacramento Metro Fire District Board of Directors shall be notified of any such modifications or waivers.

    Age

    Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

    Education and Experience

    Education must be obtained through a post secondary institution currently accredited by any accreditation body recognized by either the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the United States Department of Education.

    Required:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
  • One (1) year of experience demonstrating possession of the methods and procedures involved in receiving, recording, storing, inventorying, and issuing supplies and equipment.

    License

    Possession of and ability to maintain a current valid California Driver's License, Class C, is a condition of employment.
