Overview
Red Deer Resort & Casino is seeking a skilled and motivated Breakfast Cook (Casual / Part-time / Full-time) to join our Food & Beverage team. If you have a passion for preparing high-quality breakfast dishes and thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, we invite you to apply.
Responsibilities- Prepare and cook breakfast menu items in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented in a timely and consistent manner
- Maintain compliance with all Health and Safety and food handling regulations
- Assist with food preparation, portioning, and plating as required
- Monitor food quality and report any issues to the supervisor on shift
- Have basic knowledge of alcoholic and beverage recipes; basic bartending skills may be required
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, workstations, and storage areas
- Properly store, label, and rotate food products in accordance with FIFO procedures
- Assist with receiving and checking deliveries and reporting shortages or quality issues
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth operations
- Follow all hotel policies, procedures, and hygiene standards
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Reel Facts, Pro Tect and Pro Serve Certifications (through AGLC)
- Food Safety Certification (e.g., Food Handler’s Certificate) required
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a line cook or breakfast cook preferred
- Must be over 18 years of age
- Clear criminal record check required upon hire
- Strong knowledge of breakfast cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Effective communication skills
- Must be fluent in English, both written and oral
- Standard First Aid with CPR & AED certification is an asset
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift
- Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, water, and a noisy kitchen environment
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Regular bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching required
- The hours of work for this position will vary based on operational requirements and will primarily include early morning shifts, as well as weekends and holidays.
- This role is available as (Casual / Part-time / Full-time), depending on scheduling needs.
