Maintenance Repair Specialist - Residential

Job Title and Overview

Maintenance Repair Specialist I2 – Facilities Operations in Residential Life, University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.

• Support supervisor in facility management operations.
• Assist with project planning and develop maintenance policies and procedures.
• Inspect contractor work for compliance with plans and specifications.
• Provide input on facility needs and projected costs for budgeting.
• Provide direction and oversight to lower-level staff, including training, work assignment, review of completed work, and performance feedback.
• Work hands‑on in the field with department staff, Housing Environmental Services (HES), and student employees to complete service requests, repairs, projects, and preventative maintenance activities.

• Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience under supervision of journeymen/masters in two or more major building or mechanical trades.
• One (1) year of journeyman experience that included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, job layout, and material ordering.
• Alternative requirement:
  One (1) year as a Maintenance Repair Specialist I in Nevada State service, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must pass a pre‑employment screening for controlled substances.
• Valid Class "C" driver's license or higher at time of appointment and continuing employment.
• Ability to lift and move furniture frequently, work in mechanical rooms that may be loud, dusty and hazardous, and work outdoors in inclement weather.

Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (subject to change based on organizational needs).

Grade 31. Salary is determined by step based on Nevada Administrative Code. Step 01 placement is based on recruitment, qualifications, internal equity and budgets. Salaries are posted on the Classified Compensation schedule PP01 or PP02 for CBA units A, E, and

F.
