Summary Description
Under supervision, keeps assigned building area clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly; secures rooms and cleaning stations; performs special cleaning. May perform minor maintenance and painting duties. Incumbent performs related duties as required.
Positions may be assigned to early morning, morning, afternoon, evening, or night shifts during the school year.
ExemplaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, shampoos, and waxes floors, including various surfaces.
- Vacuum and cleans rugs and carpets.
- Dusts, waxes, washes, and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures, shelves, cupboards, and counters.
- Cleans walls, blackboards.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, locker rooms, and showers.
- Fills soap and paper dispensers; washes windows; empties trash and waste cans; restocks supplies.
- Moves furniture and equipment; sets up rooms and auditoriums for meetings and activities.
- Sets up and opens areas for special events.
- Ensures all doors and windows in the assigned area are locked, alarms are set, and security lights are on.
- Performs minor maintenance such as replacing lights, painting small rooms or trim, removing broken furniture, and tagging damaged items.
- May perform outside maintenance, including snow removal, mowing, weeding, irrigating, and litter pickup.
- Participates in intensive cleaning and restoration of district buildings during summer vacations and other periods, including washing, removing and stacking furniture, painting walls, stripping floors, and sealing and waxing floors.
- May be called upon during off‑hours for school emergencies such as burglaries, vandalism, snow removal, equipment failures, fires, flooding, etc.
Education/
Experience:
Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typically, six (6) months of experience demonstrating reliability, responsibility, and good work habits.
Knowledge:
Reading, writing, and basic arithmetic sufficient to perform job duties; understanding of cleaning materials, methods, and equipment.
Skills:
Understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions; learning supplies, equipment, and prescribed methods of cleaning; performing strenuous physical work; working effectively under time limitations and without immediate supervision; climbing and working from ladders; making simple arithmetic calculations; developing working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
License/
Certifications:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Nevada driving license with an acceptable driving record.
Special Considerations:
Working under occasional adverse environmental conditions such as heat, cold, dust, and fumes.

CompensationGrade 16 CSCA – Salary ranges:
Sch A: $16.78 (entry step), Sch B: $20.17 (entry step). Salaries are subject to adjustment each fiscal year.

All new employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter. A fee of $58.50 is deducted from the first paycheck to cover fingerprinting costs; this fee applies to non‑licensed employees as well. Fees are subject to change. Employment is conditional upon satisfactory FBI and Nevada Department of Public Safety background checks.
