Student Worker - Grounds Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance Services

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to hire a Grounds Maintenance Student Worker for the Facilities Maintenance Services Department.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily grounds maintenance duties;
• Drive carts on busy campus roads along with pedestrians;
• Pick up trash and recyclables throughout campus;
• Remove garbage from trashcans and install new liners;
• Sweep debris from sidewalks, gutters, and where necessary throughout campus;
• Springtime week removal and planter bed season prep, which includes removal of excess material to lay new mulch;
• Mulching of beds with bark mulch, decomposed granite material, and river rock as instructed by supervisor;
• Perform grounds care such as, mowing, trimming, and clean up; and
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno;
• Candidate must be dependable, reliable, thorough, motivated, and detail oriented;
• Candidate must be able to work as a member of a team and follow instructions;

Physical Demands &

Working Conditions:

• Walking or standing to a significant degree;
• Pushing and/or pulling;
• Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects;
• Exposure to hot and cold temperatures when working outside.

Schedule:

Expected hours to work per week during semester: 25

Expected hours to work per week during breaks: up to 40

Shifts will be scheduled between Monday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Compensation Grade Student Employee Level 1 $ 13.00/ hr.
