Summary Description

During school year, positions may be assigned to early morning, morning, afternoon, evening or night shifts.
Exemplary Duties and Responsibilities- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, shampoos, and waxes floors of various surfaces.
- Vacuums and cleans rugs and carpets.
- Dusts, waxes, washes and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures, shelves, cupboards and counters.
- Cleans walls and blackboards.
- Sanitizes restrooms, locker rooms and showers.
- Fills soap and paper dispensers.
- Washes windows.
- Empties trash and waste cans and restocks supplies.
- Moves furniture and equipment, and sets up rooms and auditoriums for special meetings and activities.
- Insures all doors and windows in assigned area are locked, alarms set and necessary security lights are on.
- Performs minor maintenance such as replacing lights, painting small rooms or trim, removing or tagging broken furniture, and reporting vandalism or items needing repair.
- Performs outside maintenance tasks such as snow removal, mowing, weeding, irrigating, and picking up litter.
- Participates in intensive cleaning and restoration of district buildings during summer vacations and other periods (e.g., washes, removes, stacks furniture; paints interior and exterior walls; strips floors using power equipment; seals and waxes floors).
- May be called upon off‑hours for school emergencies (e.g., burglaries, vandalism, snow removal, equipment failures, fires, flooding).
- Education/
Experience:
Any combination equivalent to education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical ways to obtain this: six (6) months of experience demonstrating reliability, responsibility and good work habits. - Knowledge of:
Reading, writing and basic arithmetic sufficient to perform job duties successfully; cleaning materials, methods and equipment. - Skills at:
Understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions; learning supplies, equipment and prescribed methods of cleaning; performing strenuous physical work; working effectively under time limitations and without immediate supervision; climbing and working from ladders; making simple arithmetic calculations; developing working relationships with those contacted in course or work. - License/
Certifications:
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid State of Nevada license with a driving record acceptable to the District. - Special Considerations:
Working under occasional adverse environmental conditions such as heat, cold, dust and fumes.
