Custodian responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of interior and exterior areas of the South Treatment Plant facilities, ensuring a safe, sanitary work environment for staff and public visitors.

• Strip, wax and scrub floors; vacuum carpets; buff machine‑finished floors.
• Clean, stock and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and public spaces, including tables, chairs, toilets, showers, sinks and walls.
• Mix and use cleaning solutions and chemicals as directed.
• Dust, wash and vacuum surfaces.
• Request and supply various cleaning materials.
• Empty trash and dispose properly.
• Monitor and report building, equipment or safety issues.
• Support grounds maintenance, including litter pickup and occasional outdoor tasks.
• Follow established safety protocols.
• Clean glass windows and other surfaces.
• Research and prepare bid specifications for cleaning equipment and supplies, when requested.

• Knowledge of basic janitorial cleaning techniques.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and its proper care.
• Knowledge of basic safety rules and procedures.
• Knowledge of basic cleaning chemicals.
• Effective communication skills, able to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Washington State driver’s license.

• One or more years of recent professional industrial cleaning or janitorial experience preferable.

Lifting up to 50 pounds daily; twisting, climbing and bending as required.

• Exposure to wastewater pathogens and contaminants in a treatment environment.
