The Coordinator of Residence Life & Maintenance Technician serves as a vital dual‑function leader within our Richfield residential community. This role is designed for a versatile professional who possesses both the emotional intelligence to manage student relationships and the technical skill to maintain a high‑quality physical environment. The position alternates 50/50 between residential community operations and facilities maintenance.
- Associate degree from an accredited institution
- At least 2 years of residence life or housing management experience
- Minimum 2 years of construction, maintenance, or handyman experience
- Coordinator Duties (50%)
- Community Development:
Oversee Residence Life community and ensure mission and objectives are met. - Mediation:
Facilitate roommate mediations and resolve interpersonal conflicts. - Policy Enforcement:
Monitor housing areas, document and report violations, and correct conduct. - On‑call Rotation:
Respond to student crises or facility emergencies. - Mentorship:
Provide guidance on campus life, academic success, and personal well‑being. - Move‑In/Move‑Out Coordination:
Lead logistics, key distribution, and room condition reports. - Training:
Assist in hiring and training Resident Assistants and support leadership class lessons. - Maintenance Technician (50%)
- Repair Work Orders:
Respond to daily maintenance requests including basic plumbing and electrical work. - Carpentry & Patching:
Perform drywall repairs, painting, and furniture assembly or repair. - Appliance Maintenance:
Diagnose and repair residential appliances and equipment. - Facility Audits:
Conduct walking inspections to identify wear, tear, and safety issues. - Inventory Management:
Maintain supplies inventory and place orders within budget. - Contractor Liaison:
Escort and supervise external vendors for specialist repairs. - Seasonal Projects:
Execute high‑volume turnaround schedules between semesters. - Capital Improvement Support:
Assist Facilities Director with long‑term needs.
- Experience in residence life or housing management; knowledge of eRezLife, Maxient, and Banner software preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Title IX, ADA accommodations, housing policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Computer typing skills and ability to use housing software.
- Strong presentation, staff management, conflict mediation, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Hands‑on maintenance and construction skills in plumbing, appliance repair, and custodial procedures.
- Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and on‑call rotation.
- Works well under pressure, evaluates risks, adapts to change, and maintains a positive environment.

Salary: $35,230. Total benefits estimate: $29,038 (based on family plan).
