Overview

PNNL Directorate overview:
Mission Support & Operations includes Office of General Counsel, Business Services, Communications and External Engagement, Operational Systems, Communications and Information Technology, and Performance Management. The Operational Systems Directorate (OSD) leads delivery of PNNL’s 10-year, $1.2 billion campus construction portfolio and oversees operations, facility services, maintenance, and infrastructure planning. The directorate comprises around 800 staff across crafts, engineering, construction, technicians, scientists, administrators, and specialists, ensuring that PNNL’s assets, services, and programs are managed safely, securely, reliably, and efficiently.

OSD stewards more than $250 million in annual budget authority, 2.5 million+ square feet of facility space across two campuses, ~200 regulatory program areas, and a multi-million-dollar project portfolio. The Facilities & Infrastructure Operations (F&IO) Division is responsible for operating and maintaining PNNL’s buildings, grounds, and utilities, with a team of about 363 staff including over 250 bargaining unit employees.

Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day operations for the South Campus Operations Group to ensure facility systems remain operational and reliable.
  • Conduct field/facility walk-downs and collaborate with management to assess facilities needs.
  • Manage scheduling, work prioritization, asset/equipment database maintenance, and respond to emergent issues.
  • Assist with assessments, reporting, and preventative maintenance support.
  • Support material identification, ordering, and other day-to-day operational tasks for South Campus facilities.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED or higher.
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited college or university.
  • Taking at least 6 credit hours with an overall cumulative GPA of 2.50.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient use of standard office equipment and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Proficient with Maximo and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform independent and complex tasks.
Security, Credentialing, and Eligibility Requirements

As a national laboratory, PNNL adheres to HSPD-12 and DOE Order 473.1A, requiring new employees to obtain and maintain a PIV credential after a federal background check. The level of investigation depends on duties and responsibilities. Background checks may include a declaration of illegal drug activities within the applicable time frame. For foreign nationals: residency requirements apply for PIV eligibility and may require an alternative risk determination.

Minimum Salary USD $17.13/hr;
Maximum Salary USD $27.02/hr pay ranges are posted in the job posting, with starting pay determined by the minimum of the range and adjusted for skills and experience. This applies to most positions, excluding those governed by collective bargaining agreements or specific terms.
