Development Chef & Trainer (Multi-Brand QSR – Mexican & Mediterranean)

We’re looking for a passionate, hands‑on Development Chef & Trainer to join a team that thrives on energy, collaboration, and creativity. You’ll work across multiple quick‑service brands inspired by Mexican and Mediterranean flavours, helping bring bold, craveable food to life.

You’ll help bring each brand’s food to life, balancing authentic flavours, efficient execution, and strong cost control to deliver products that both guests and franchisees love. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to) Culinary Development
  • Lead menu innovation and product development from concept to launch across all assigned brands.
  • Create, refine, and standardize recipes, build charts, and plating standards for consistent execution.
  • Coordinate in‑store testing, tastings, and product validations with Operations and Marketing teams.
  • Research emerging food trends in Mexican & Mediterranean categories to guide future development.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on Limited‑Time Offers (LTOs), product photography, and creative direction.
Training & Field Support >
  • Deliver hands‑on training for new franchisees and new internal team members.
  • Develop and maintain culinary and operations training tools; build charts, videos, and in‑store guides.
  • Support new store openings and re‑openings with on‑site training.
  • Reinforce food quality, safety, and consistency through on‑site visits and follow‑ups.
  • Build team confidence through coaching, mentorship, and clear communication.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Analyze product performance, yields, and food costs to optimize menu profitability.
    • Support SKU reduction, portion control, and waste management initiatives.
    • Work with Supply Chain to ensure reliable sourcing and product availability.
    • Participate in kitchen layout reviews and equipment recommendations for new builds or renovations.
    • Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
    Cross‑Functional Collaboration
    • Partner closely with Brand, Marketing, and Purchasing teams to align product launches and campaigns.
    • Coordinate culinary testing, cost analysis, and packaging evaluations across all brands.
    • Participate in MTY‑wide culinary councils and contribute to multi‑brand menu innovation.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Experience:

      5+ years in culinary leadership, preferably within QSR or multi‑unit operations.
    • Education:

      Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
    • Cuisine Expertise:
      Deep understanding of Mexican & Mediterranean flavours, ingredients, and techniques.
    • Leadership:
      Strong trainer and mentor able to inspire and teams at all levels.
    • Analytical

      Skills:

      Skilled in recipe costing, yield analysis, and understanding P&L impact.
    • Technical

      Skills:

      Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with digital training tools.
    • Personality:
      Energetic, adaptable, collaborative, and committed to excellence.
    • Availability:
      Willing to travel frequently and ability to work evenings or weekends if needed.
    WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Must hold a valid driver’s licence and have reliable transportation.
    • Uniform required during in‑restaurant work and training sessions.
    • Flexible schedule to meet business and training demands.
