The Field Service Engineer performs timely and accurate preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs on medical equipment within hospitals or healthcare systems. The role includes installing devices, supporting senior engineers, and maintaining strong customer relationships to drive satisfaction and ensure regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities and Experience- Perform timely and accurate preventive maintenance on medical equipment.
- Conduct troubleshooting and basic service repairs on customer equipment.
- Assist senior field engineers with equipment installations and more complex repairs.
- Proactively engage with team members to ensure appropriate solutions for the customer.
- Maintain relationships with customers and ensure timely communication, resolution, and proper follow‑up to drive satisfaction.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and hospital protocols to meet regulatory and compliance requirements, documenting all work performed daily.
- Partner with the customer and/or sales team to recommend value‑added services that improve operational efficiency.
- Utilize the GEHC escalation process and collaborate with regional and national support teams to define and implement corrective action plans.
- Educational and Technical Requirements
- Associate degree in a related field or equivalent military education and at least 2 years of experience servicing electronic equipment.
- Or high school diploma/GED and 4 years of relevant experience.
- Or graduate of the GEHC Apprentice Program.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Experience with web applications and the Microsoft suite of products.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; visas will not be sponsored.
- Availability for after‑hours work and/or a rotating on‑call schedule, including weekends.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Work location:
Toledo, OH.
- Technical capabilities in imaging modalities.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted and to perform tasks such as bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching/squatting, kneeling/crawling, sitting, and standing for long periods.
- Capability to reach above and below shoulder level, flex/extend the neck, and maintain good hand and finger dexterity.
