Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses and repairs electrical equipment such as radios, sirens, light bars, radar, etc.
- Designs, fabricates and installs equipment for vehicles.
- Services county vehicles when needed and performs preventative maintenance.
- Maintains a record of work performed on equipment and vehicles; prepares reports for department.
- Installs new and used parts and accessories.
- Coordinates equipment orders with department liaison to ensure timely project completion.
- Orders parts and supplies as needed for projects.
- Assists other employees with their duties. Strips retired county vehicles of all equipment and decals.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
- High School Diploma/GED; two years technical school and/or specialized training in electronics is preferred.
- Two years job‑related experience.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnosis and repair.
$20.50 - $25.63 hourly based on qualifications
