Makes repairs on all equipment and vehicles; makes on-the-road repairs. Performs scheduled maintenance on department vehicles and equipment. Performs road tests on equipment. Performs welding duties and fabricates materials to fit. Orders and picks-up parts and records and files reports on equipment and machines repaired. Instructs mechanic helpers. Held accountable for equipment used and uniforms issued. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MinimumJob Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 2 years of related experience as a Mechanic (or Mechanic Helper).
- Knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair, or certification in different fields of mechanical training.
- Ability to complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Good interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with other employees, and elected officials.
Starting Salary Range: $20.50 - $25.63 hourly based on qualifications
