Overview

Electrical Crew Leader

Planning, organizing, and scheduling crews to complete assigned work orders, including task assignment, ensuring high-quality installation, and performing quality inspections. Monitors task completion, compliance, and safety issues.

Responsibilities include:
  • Productivity planning for assigned scope of work.
  • Ensuring crew meets daily productivity benchmarks.
  • Material phasing—organize materials by specific areas/floors and keep track of inventories.
  • Tools & equipment—identify all required tools and equipment, assign gang boxes, and keep track of tools via signing sheets.
  • Information packages—ensure each crew activity has necessary documents (drawings, schedules, cut sheets, etc.).
  • Control of breaks—manage personal breaks, smoking time, and conversations to minimize loss time.
  • Daily reports—submit hours/units for each employee using the standard timesheet form.
  • Quality control inspections—follow established QC plans and checklists.
  • Responsible for professional and high-quality installation of work.
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings—update and log weekly onto master contract drawings.
  • Inventory management—track and secure all tools and equipment, with weekly inspection sheets and reports for lost/stolen/damaged tools.
  • Support equipment inspections—submit weekly inspection sheets for all equipment.
  • Accident/incident reporting—follow procedures and submit reports within 24 hours.
  • Clean Up

    Foreman and crew leader are responsible for cleaning their work areas, leaving them broom-swept daily.

    Quality Standards
  • Ensure installation meets/exceeds codes, contractual obligations, and best practices.
  • Review and implement the Project Quality Plan, documenting deviations for approval.
  • Assist in implementing 3-Phase Quality Control for each Definable Feature of Work.
  • Document and return CQC checklists timely.
  • Issue discrepancy notices to address construction issues.
  • Review weekly quality scorecards and address systemic issues.
  • Resolve nonconformity tags promptly.
  • Participate in QAQC design reviews for constructability issues.
  • Contribute to daily work briefings on quality.
  • Education
  • 6+ years of electrical industry experience with a High School Degree or GED.
  • 4+ years with an associate degree.
  • Physical Abilities
  • Lift at least 100 lbs at once and 60 lbs for extended periods.
  • Relocate a 12-foot stepladder unaided.
  • Work at heights up to 60 feet, climbing scaffolds, lifts, and ladders.
  • Perform routine physical tasks—walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead.
  • Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, hearing, and English communication skills.
  • Use ladders safely while carrying tools.
  • Recognize potential problems—problem detection, not solving.
  • Apply rules to specific problems to produce sensible answers.
  • Combine information to form general conclusions.
