Overview
Tidewater Community College seeks applications for Part-time Custodian positions at the Virginia Beach Campus, Advanced Technology Building. This recruitment is to fill 4 positions. The role provides custodial/housekeeping services for college facilities, including trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sweeping, floor stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, and cleaning of white/black boards. Responsibilities may include room setup/take-down assistance and light bulb replacement, as assigned, with emphasis on maintaining good attendance.
This is an essential position and requires reporting to work during campus closures due to weather or emergencies when needed.
- Provide cleaning services to college buildings, including daily removal of trash, mopping, dusting, sweeping, and vacuuming. Assist in setup and takedown of special events if assigned. Comply with laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash and waste.
- Be able to climb a six-foot ladder and lift up to 50 lbs. unaided.
- Be able to report to work during inclement weather to assist in snow removal from entries and walkways and apply snow-melt when required.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications- Knowledge of custodial operations and industry standards.
- Working knowledge of janitorial, custodial, housekeeping services, and sanitizing techniques.
- Ability to climb ladders without assistance.
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. Skills in using housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers and scrubbing machines.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to equipment operation, chemical use, and trash/recycling.
