Building Services Worker | Part-Time | Richmond Convention Center

Building Service Workers perform event set‑up and tear‑down, custodial/housekeeping duties, and light maintenance tasks as assigned. Work schedules are determined by event activity on an as-needed basis. This role will pay an hourly rate of $18.55–$21.00. Benefits for part‑time roles include a 401(k) Savings Plan and 401(k) matching. This position will remain open until August 14, 2026.

The Greater Richmond Convention Center is the largest meeting and exhibition venue in the Commonwealth of Virginia. With 178,158 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, a 30,550 square‑foot Grand Ballroom, and 50,000 square feet of additional meeting/banquet space, the GRCC is well‑positioned to host a variety of events, from small meetings to large trade shows and conventions. Situated along the I‑95 corridor, the GRCC lies within a 500‑mile radius of one half of the U.S. population.

• Work from general instructions and specifications.
• Read and interpret paperwork regarding room set‑ups.
• Set rooms according to the requested layouts.
• Set up and tear down facility equipment (i.e., chairs, tables, staging, risers, trash cans, dance floors, coat racks, table skirting, carpet, pipe & drape, plywood, etc.) for events.
• Sweep, mop, scrub & wax floors; wash walls and clean windows; polish stainless steel and clean countertops; clean restrooms and replenish supplies; remove stains, clean and extract carpets; dust, polish, arrange and move furniture and equipment; remove rubbish and waste.
• Maintain restrooms to a high standard while replenishing supplies.
• Use hand tools or small powered equipment applicable to the work being performed.
• Perform light facility maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Report defective equipment, facility damage, or incorrect set‑ups to supervisors in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent GED.
• Must be available to work flexible hours and days including early morning, days, evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays.
• Experience with using and maintaining hand and power tools related to job functions.
• Knowledge of applicable safety rules and procedures.
• Displays a high level of customer service.
• Able to work from general instructions and specifications with minimal supervision.
• Ability to perform general labor‑related tasks safely and efficiently.
• Previous experience operating a wide variety of equipment, including vans, pick‑up trucks, forklifts, high‑lifts, floor scrubbers, and other vehicles as required.
• Able to provide directions to others.
• Ability to work effectively in a service‑oriented environment with frequently changing priorities.
• Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors, and facility users.
