Position Overview
We are recruiting a Traveling Field Service Technician for a leading manufacturer of tray sealing equipment in the food industry. The role involves installing, servicing, and maintaining high‑volume tray sealing machinery across the western United States, with frequent travel and overtime. The starting hourly pay is $32–$36, and total compensation can reach $100K–$150K per year based on experience and tier progression.
Key Responsibilities- Stage, install, and commission manual, semi‑automatic, and automatic tray sealing machines and tooling.
- Travel extensively, including air travel, for extended periods.
- Advise and support third‑party equipment suppliers and integration.
- Provide remote and on‑site support for equipment breakdowns.
- Interpret and manage on‑site customer requirements and expectations.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and pneumatic assemblies (motors, drum rollers, belts, bushings, bearings, valves, cylinders).
- Repair AC/DC electrical systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, power supplies, servos, temperature controllers, phase monitors, relays, transformers, and heaters.
- Use standard test instruments, hand tools, and software for installation and repair.
- Collaborate with design engineers, management, and customers to resolve system, design, operation, and maintenance issues.
- Prepare accurate, detailed service visit reports.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 21 years of age; valid U.S. driver's license with good driving record.
- Background check and drug screening clearance.
- Ability to work overtime and flexible shifts.
- Experience in a food processing/production environment focused on heat sealing (minimum 2 years) valuable.
- Technical experience in electromechanical engineering, mechatronics, or machine automation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics.
- Hands‑on experience with hand tools, test instruments, and computer/software troubleshooting.
- High degree of reliability, punctuality, and teamwork.
- 80–90 % travel.
- U.S. passport available upon employment.
- Work in temperatures ranging from below 32 °F to above 100 °F for extended periods.
- Stand for long periods and lift up to 75 lbs repeatedly.
