Senior Maintenance Technician

The Senior Maintenance Technician will help the Chief Engineer oversee all aspects of the maintenance and engineering operations within the hotel. This includes mentoring, training and motivating the maintenance team, implementing preventative maintenance programs and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all mechanical and electrical systems.

Essential Leadership Functions
  • Supervision:
    Assist the Chief Engineer to ensure the effective operation and upkeep of facilities and equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance:
    Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. Help the Chief Engineer to schedule regular inspections, servicing, and repairs to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Equipment Management:
    Facilitate the maintenance and repair of all equipment and machinery within the organization, including boilers, HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems, to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Team Guidance:
    Provide guidance to the maintenance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Work with the Chief Engineer to promote professional development and training opportunities among the team.

Job Duties
  • Maintain properties, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities, using hand tools.
  • Replace AC filters.
  • Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
  • Tend furnace, air‑conditioner, and boiler equipment and maintain other equipment with standard preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain records on all equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Maintain files of Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Maintain superior quality of appearance of interior and exterior of hotel to Hilton and Shamin Hotels standards.
  • Repair wallpaper, carpet, sheetrock, and doors of hotel.
  • Keep an orderly and well‑stocked inventory of finishing supplies.
  • Check operation of all guest room equipment.
  • Inspect and repair minor problems in common areas.
  • Learn and communicate emergency procedures.
  • Be responsible for safe operation of all equipment, chemicals, and lockout procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Job Qualifications
  • Experience:

    Proven experience in a maintenance or engineering role, preferably in the hospitality or facilities management industry, with experience in mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Leadership

    Skills:

    Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team, delegate tasks effectively, and foster a positive work environment.
  • Technical Expertise:
    Knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non‑technical stakeholders and collaborate with other departments.
  • Problem‑Solving Ability:
    Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement solutions to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Attention to Detail:
    High level of attention to detail and accuracy in maintenance planning, documentation, and record‑keeping.
  • Education:

    Technical degree or Associate’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field is preferred.
