Job SummaryOur client is seeking a Maintenance Planner to develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive maintenance planning program that supports equipment reliability and operational efficiency. This role will be responsible for building a preventive maintenance (PM) program, administering the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), planning and scheduling maintenance activities, and managing maintenance spare parts inventory and procurement. The ideal candidate has experience with maintenance planning, CMMS administration, inventory management, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Hands-on maintenance experience is highly preferred.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance (PM) program from the ground up.
- Identify critical equipment and establish maintenance strategies to improve reliability and equipment performance.
- Create, maintain, and update preventive maintenance procedures, job plans, and maintenance schedules.
- Support predictive maintenance and reliability-centered maintenance initiatives where appropriate.
- Administer, organize, and optimize the CMMS database, including equipment records, asset hierarchies, work orders, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of CMMS data.
- Train maintenance personnel on CMMS processes and best practices.
- Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and labor efficiency.
- Prepare maintenance work packages, including labor requirements, materials, tools, procedures, and safety documentation.
- Maintain and prioritize the maintenance backlog based on operational requirements.
- Manage maintenance spare parts inventory and storeroom organization.
- Establish and maintain minimum and maximum inventory levels for critical spare parts.
- Source and procure maintenance materials, equipment, and replacement parts.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Monitor inventory levels, usage trends, and obsolete inventory.
- Conduct inventory audits and cycle counts.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to improve equipment reliability.
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, inventory management, and operational efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement, reliability, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, inventory management, or a related role.
- Experience working with CMMS platforms such as MP2, eMaint, Fiix, Maintenance Connection, Maximo, SAP PM, or similar systems.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing maintenance spare parts inventory and procurement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance, operations, engineering, procurement, and vendor partners.
- Hands-on maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or reliability experience is highly preferred.
- Experience developing preventive maintenance programs from inception is preferred.
- Knowledge of procurement, vendor management, and inventory control practices is preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), or Predictive Maintenance methodologies is preferred.
- APICS, CMRP, or other maintenance and reliability certifications are a plus.
- Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field required.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, inventory management, or a related field required.
- Experience developing preventive maintenance programs from the ground up preferred.
