Job Summary

Responsible for cleaning assigned areas according to schedule and community policies and procedures.

Responsible for cleaning assigned areas according to schedule and community policies and procedures.

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Some related experience preferred.

• Custodians may be assigned to work in apartments or villas/cottages, health services, assisted living, or common areas as determined by the director or designee.
• Empty garbage containers from areas assigned and remove trash to disposal area. Clean containers and replace trash liners.
• Prepare work cart and obtain necessary daily supplies from stock.
• Keep the assigned equipment clean and in proper operating condition.
• Handle soiled and clean linen.
• Clean all surfaces, including floors, carpets, fixtures, walls, trim, ceilings, and windows in assigned areas according to determined schedules and procedures.
• Clean, buff, polish and shampoo floors as assigned.
• Following all instructions on the use of cleaning chemicals, including dilution and application.
• Report any unsafe condition and needed repairs to the director or designee.
• Inspect lighting in assigned areas daily and replace accessible light bulbs as allowed by procedure. Report inaccessible outages to maintenance.
• Assist in setup of functions or special events as instructed.
• Attend all assigned in-service programs and departmental training.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Basic knowledge of general housekeeping and laundry services.
• Knowledge of cleaning approaches and tools.
• Knowledge of laundry procedures.
• Ability to use and maintain cleaning and laundry supplies and tools.
• Ability to read, write and communicate using the English language.
• Ability to operate company vehicles as assigned.

• Ability to lift or push up to 60lbs., stand and walk the whole day, ability to kneel, bend, reach, and work overhead.
• Exposure to outside weather conditions during the completion of assigned schedule may occur.
• Flexibility in the work schedule is required. Must be able to work assigned schedule, which may include working holidays, weekends, evenings, and during inclement weather.
• Exposure to the sights, sounds and odors of a typical long-term care and health care environment serving senior citizens, some with dementia.
