Linen Worker
This role focuses on safely and efficiently distributing clean linens throughout a hospital facility. You will move linen carts between designated areas, ensure each floor has the correct supplies, and organize linens in their proper storage locations. The position requires consistent physical activity, attention to detail, and strong reliability, while maintaining professional interactions with nursing staff in a clinical environment.
Responsibilities- Distribute clean linens throughout the hospital according to established routes and floor assignments.
- Organize and stock clean linens in designated storage areas, ensuring items are placed in their proper locations.
- Safely move and maneuver linen bins weighing up to approximately 50 pounds throughout the hospital.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in linen storage and distribution spaces.
- Coordinate and communicate professionally with nursing staff to understand linen needs and priorities.
- Follow all hospital and departmental policies and procedures related to cleanliness, safety, and handling of materials.
- Adhere to schedule requirements, including weekday shifts and assigned weekend rotations.
- Participate in required orientation and training sessions and apply learned procedures consistently.
- Report any issues with linen supply, equipment, or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality to support consistent hospital operations.
- Ability to safely lift, push, and maneuver linen bins weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, general labor, custodial work, warehouse associate, cleaning, or material handling roles.
- Strong attendance and reliability, with a commitment to consistent scheduling and minimal unexcused absences.
- Willingness to learn and follow detailed procedures in a hospital environment.
- Ability to interact professionally with nursing staff and coworkers.
- Capability to work scheduled weekday shifts and every third weekend as assigned.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, physically demanding setting.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in housekeeping, janitorial services, or custodial roles in healthcare or similar environments.
- Experience in warehouse or material handling operations.
- Strong soft skills, including dependability, initiative, and a positive attitude toward learning.
- Ability to follow strict appearance and grooming standards as required in a hospital setting.

WorkEnvironment
This is an onsite position within a hospital setting, primarily at the main campus. Standard shifts run from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with every third weekend scheduled from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work involves continuous movement through hospital corridors while pushing and maneuvering linen bins weighing around 50 pounds. The environment is clean, structured, and safety-focused, with regular interaction with nursing staff but no entry into patient rooms.
Orientation takes place offsite prior to starting work in the hospital. The role requires adherence to hospital dress and grooming standards, including wearing provided blue scrub uniforms and appropriate sneakers, and following policies that allow short nails and gel or polish but prohibit acrylic nails. The setting emphasizes punctuality, consistent attendance, and adherence to procedures to ensure smooth hospital operation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.50/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
