Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist
Reports To: Director of Special Education
Location: Southland College Prep Charter High School
Position OverviewSouthland College Prep Charter High School is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting student communication and academic success through evidence-based assessment, therapy, and collaboration.
Qualifications- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Endorsement
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working collaboratively in student-centered environments
- Assess students’ communication skills (e.g., articulation, fluency, voice, language) to identify disorders and determine eligibility for services
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in accordance with IEPs and regulatory guidelines
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school teams to support student progress and ensure service compliance
- Conduct and facilitate IEP meetings, screenings, evaluations, and parent conferences
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to students to reduce barriers to learning
- Train students in the use of communication technologies (e.g., augmentative devices, FM systems)
- Maintain accurate documentation including therapy notes, progress reports, and compliance records
- Participate in ongoing professional development and school-based meetings
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Southland College Prep policies
- Make decisions that support the mission and vision of Southland College Prep
- Utilize local, state, and national resources to promote student safety and welfare
- Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for students and staff, including interns and volunteers
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze documents and reports
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication
- Ability to present information and respond to questions in a professional setting
