This is a temporary seasonal position for the grape harvest season. The role begins at the start of the harvest season and continues through its completion. Hours vary with grape ripening, typically including graveyard shifts from around 11 pm to 9 am and overtime. The position reports to the Cellar Logistics Manager.
Job SummaryThe Seasonal Test Stand Operator performs general test stand sampling work, including sampling grape trucks, cleaning and sanitizing test stand equipment and related areas, operating sampling probes, assisting other personnel, and carrying out general cleaning tasks. The role requires handling household chemicals, lifting lug bins or buckets up to 50 lbs, and working at heights up to 5 ft. The ideal candidate is flexible, can work a challenging schedule, and works well with a small, closely‑knit team.
EssentialFunctions
- Lifting heavy lug bins or buckets.
- Operation of basic hand tools.
- Cleaning and sanitizing test stand and related equipment.
- General housekeeping and cleaning tasks, including sweeping, scooping debris, pulling weeds, using a shovel, using water hoses for wash‑down of grounds or buildings, and operating spraying equipment or a power washer.
- Operating sampling probes.
- Working with limited direct supervision and exercising independent judgment.
- Assisting others on the team and training another worker in routine responsibilities.
- Working at heights up to 5 ft.
- Remaining alert and operating all machinery and equipment safely to prevent injury.
- Performing other essential job functions as required.
- Must be 18 or older at time of hire.
- No experience in a production or manufacturing environment required.
- Must read, write, speak, and understand instructions in English.
- Ability to multitask, work independently and with a team in a fast‑paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Must be flexible with availability; primary morning‑graveyard hours approximately 12 am–10 am, with shifts shifting as needed for harvesting.
- Operation of basic hand tools.
- Must have an excellent safety, work performance and attendance record.
- Prioritizes tasks while adapting to changing priorities.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality and teamwork, adhering to all safety regulations and operating procedures.
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments with varying noise levels.
- Work outdoors in dry, wet, or humid conditions, including inclement seasonal weather, summer heat, cold weather, and rain.
- Bending, stooping, and twisting in an outdoor environment.
- Repeatedly lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs with equipment.
- Hourly Pay Rate: $19.50 /hr for new hires, $20.50 /hr for returning hires.
