Role Qualifications
  • Must hold a current Illinois Substitute Teaching License (SUB) and/or Professional Educator License (PEL).
  • Preferred endorsement: LBS1 (not required).
Position Responsibilities
  • Instruct assigned classes using district curriculum.
  • Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Perform any other related duties as requested by building administration.
  • Adhere to the published policies and procedures of the District.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental level and interest of the students.
  • Prepare for classes assigned.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establish clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, and communicate these goals and objectives to students and parents.
  • Utilize best practices with an emphasis on student engagement and cooperative learning techniques.
  • Provide instruction that supports the District’s philosophy of education.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and technology.
  • Initiate contact with parents when necessary and respond promptly, constructively, and professionally to parent-initiated contacts/concerns.
  • Establish a set of classroom behavioral expectations based on clearly defined goals or principles.
  • Be consistent and fair.
Compensation

The long-term substitute rate for coverage of a leave of absence is $160 per day for the first 20 days. Beginning on the 21st day the rate is $308.33 for the remainder of the leave of absence.
