Job Summary

The CAAS Coordinator will assist the Director in providing access and accommodative services as mandated by federal and state policy. Under the Director’s direction, the Coordinator will provide direct services to students, general administrative support to the CAAS, and collaborate with faculty and other departments to foster student success and retention.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation, education, or counseling (master’s preferred)
  • Three years minimum experience working in a disabilities services environment
  • Working knowledge of the Rehabilitation Act, FERPA, ADA, Section 504, 508, and the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act
  • Working knowledge of adapted software programs
  • Proficiency in sign language interpreting, including Signed English and American Sign Language preferred
Responsibilities
  • Assist the director with training, scheduling, and supervision of student workers, hourly staff, and volunteers to coordinate services for students.
  • Participate in student intake appointments, conduct technology assessments, establish student accommodation agreements, and present at student training appointments.
  • Review and interpret student confidential documentation of disabilities and medical conditions, participate in the Staffing Team to determine eligibility for services and appropriate accommodations, and maintain student records.
  • Collaborate with all campus departments to support student retention.
  • Teach lessons and document student success in CAAS employment skill programs in the absence of program staff.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with district high school staff and faculty.
  • Provide check‑in appointments with students who are struggling academically to provide resources and referrals as needed to support student success and retention.
  • Create and teach workshops for students that enhance learning, academic and executive functioning skills, advocacy skills and assistive technology.
  • Oversee the usage and maintenance of assistive technology and coordinate alternate text material services.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of student accommodations, evaluate and report academic and career progress.
  • Establish partnerships and collaborate across departments and divisions to enhance campus accessibility and inclusion, consult about reasonable accommodations, promote student academic success, and support students experiencing academic challenges.
  • Provide resources and support for faculty and staff regarding student accommodations and their role in providing accommodations for students.
  • Under the direct supervision of the Director of CAAS, assist with all CAAS programs and services.
  • Assist with proctoring and scheduling student exams.
  • Maintain knowledge of the ADA, Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, FERPA, and disabilities and assist with presenting to staff and faculty.
  • Collect and provide data for required CAAS and college reports.
  • Serve on institutional committees and task forces as needed.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
