Senior Off-Price Buyer The Bazaar Inc. | River Grove, IL | Full-Time, On-Site! Competitive Salary + Bonus
The Bazaar Inc. is a 65-year-old, family-owned closeout and off-price distributor based in River Grove, Illinois. We buy and sell name-brand excess inventory across categories including food, household goods, health & beauty, toys, books, seasonal, sporting goods, and general merchandise.
We are looking for a Senior Off-Price Buyer who knows how to find great deals, move fast, protect margin, and build long-term vendor relationships.
This is a high-impact buying role for someone with deep experience in closeouts, off-price, wholesale, liquidation, CPG, or high-volume consumer goods. The right person understands that buying is not just about getting product — it is about buying the right product, at the right cost, with a clear path to sell-through.
What You’ll Do- Source closeout, excess, discontinued, overstock, and opportunistic inventory deals from manufacturers, distributors, retailers, brokers, and brand partners.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships across key consumer product categories.
- Evaluate deals based on cost, margin, velocity, customer demand, inventory risk, and sell-through potential.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, freight considerations, quantities, and deal structure.
- Partner closely with sales to understand customer demand and identify product opportunities.
- Review inventory performance, aging, margin, and sell-through to improve future buying decisions.
- Help prevent bad buys by applying disciplined standards before inventory is purchased.
- Identify new vendor channels and expand The Bazaar’s access to high-quality off-price inventory.
- Work inside our ERP and internal systems to track buying activity, vendor performance, and inventory outcomes.
- Bring urgency, judgment, and accountability to every deal.
- 8+ years of buying, sourcing, or deal-making experience in off-price, closeouts, wholesale, liquidation, CPG, retail, or consumer products.
- Strong existing vendor relationships and the ability to open new supply channels.
- Proven ability to evaluate product opportunities quickly and commercially.
- Strong negotiation skills and comfort working in a fast-moving deal environment.
- Clear understanding of margin, inventory turns, aging risk, freight impact, and sell-through.
- Ability to balance aggressive buying with disciplined risk management.
- Strong communication skills with vendors, sales teams, and leadership.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, entrepreneurial, family-business environment.
- Experience with ERP systems, inventory reporting, or buying analytics preferred.
