Description
The Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission is a bi-county agency servicing both Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. The park systems are managed in both counties and in Prince George’s County, the public’s recreation programs are developed and maintained. If so, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County is where you want to be! We’re looking to fill a Campus Maintenance Superintendent role at our newly opened Largo HQ campus. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing, implementing, and maintaining building management systems for two office class buildings and a park housed within a large and highly publicly visible complex.
You’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs in the area(s) of your proficiency, conduct inspection and/or assessment of building systems and grounds of the HQ campus, and respond to repair calls for all building systems. You’ll also manage and schedule staff, maintain records and files, draft reports including RFQs, and coordinating with engineers, contractors, and inspectors to resolve actual and potential problems all while serving as the subject matter expert for conservation opportunities at Largo HQ.
This position falls within the Facility Services Division (FSD) the largest Division within the Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County. We provide high quality maintenance and maintenance support services for all of the parks and recreation facilities. FSD has six (6) major work areas:
Fleet Management, Buildings & Structures (Trade Shops), Horticulture & Forestry, Major Maintenance & Inspection, Critical Projects (Heavy Equipment/Roads and Grounds, Sustainability, Aquatic Maintenance) and the Administrative section.
The Campus Maintenance Superintendent will perform as a key member of the Largo HQ Complex maintenance team and will work solely at the Largo HQ campus. The successful candidate will work under general supervision performing a wide range of duties related to: commission practices regarding recycling, disposal of materials, and safety; scheduling maintenance inspections required by Federal, State, and local codes and regulations;
and investigating and resolving building service requests and complaints from building occupants, management, and the general public. This work is highly collaborative in nature and requires an effective team player.
- Manages the overall maintenance of building management systems; such as energy management, security, elevator, heating, ventilation, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing associated with the Largo HQ Campus and performs oversight word of proficiency. Schedules preventative maintenance and repairs for other systems with certified contractors or staff as appropriate.
- Functions as Maintenance Superintendent by:
- Conducting inspection and assessment of building systems and grounds at the Largo HQ Campus. Investigating and resolving building service requests and complaints from building occupants, management, and the general public.
- Testing safety devices and controls and providing recommendations for minor adjustments and repairs of all systems where appropriate.
- Completing major adjustments or repairs in area(s) of proficiency.
