Custodian II (School-Based)

Location: RIVERDALE EARLY LEARNING CENTER, Riverdale, Georgia

Starting Date: Immediately

Position Summary: Performs custodial duties required to maintain cleanliness, sanitary, and safety of the assigned school or location. This position reports to the school principal or building designee.

• Cleans classrooms, restrooms, offices, dining areas; mops floors, vacuums, strips floors, buffs and wax floors, empties trash.
• Clears windows; picks up trash on school grounds; changes light bulbs; replaces ceiling tiles; moves furniture; removes graffiti from inside; secures building upon daily departure.
• Operates commercial custodial equipment (scrubber, buffer, commercial vacuum cleaner, ladder, wet vacuum, shampoo machine); maintains equipment cleanliness.
• Sets up and breaks down for events at the assigned school/location.
• Completes inventory counts and orders supplies; maintains custodial closet organization.
• Assists with district emergency and general assignments as needed.
• Performs any additional duties assigned to perform the above services.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to speak, write, and read English fluently.
• Minimum of one year of commercial facility cleaning experience preferred.
• Able to make decisions impacting staff/students under guidance of principal or designee.
• Regular contact with internal and external personnel for issues of importance.
• Familiarity with computer applications (Word, Google email) preferred.
• Physical requirements:
  
  lift 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally; walk, stand, kneel, bend for 8 hours; climb 30-foot ladder and negotiate stairs.
• Will be on call after normal hours in emergency situations.
• Independent duty of care and protection of district stakeholders' welfare on a daily basis.

Position Type: Full Time
Salary: $16.79 to $17.71 per hour

This is a Grade 13, 225‑day position that starts at Step 6 and pays for experience up to Step 8.
