School Secretary
The School Secretary plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the school office. This position carries major responsibility in facilitating efficient office functions, serving as a key point of contact for students, staff, parents, and visitors, and ensuring a professional, welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Building Principal and school staff
- Manage front office operations, including answering phones, greeting visitors, and responding to inquiries
- Maintain accurate student and staff records, including data entry and filing
- Utilize student information systems (e.g., Skyward preferred) for attendance, registration, and reporting
- Operate standard office equipment (copiers, scanners, fax machines, etc.)
- Coordinate communications, including emails, letters, and school correspondence
- Assist with scheduling, meetings, and event coordination
- Monitor and maintain office supplies and inventory
- Ensure confidentiality of student and staff information at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required (college credit hours preferred)
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful secretarial experience (preferred)
- Experience with school office procedures required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with Skyward or similar student information systems preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) required/preferred (adjust based on your need)
- Demonstrated ability to:
Communicate effectively (oral and written) Maintain strong organizational and time-management skills Work independently and efficiently Multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Exercise sound judgment and decision-making Maintain strict confidentiality
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting salary of $35,000 (in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement)
