Job Title: Elementary School Bilingual Teacher (10-Month Position)

Reports To: Building Principal
Work Schedule: School Year (10-Month Position)
Classification: Union Position
Salary Range: $47,208 - $56,526 (per Collective Bargaining Agreement, based on education and experience)

Position Summary

The Elementary School Bilingual Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students in both English and Spanish, supporting academic achievement while promoting bilingualism and biliteracy. The teacher will create a positive, inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of students and fosters social, emotional, and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned to state standards and district curriculum in both English and Spanish
  • Implement effective bilingual/ESL instructional strategies to support language development and content mastery
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and language needs of students
  • Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of formal and informal assessments
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians in both English and Spanish
  • Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school activities
  • Utilize instructional technology and student information systems (e.g., Skyward preferred)
  • Uphold all district policies, procedures, and expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsements (Elementary Education and Bilingual/ESL required)
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required
  • Knowledge of bilingual education models and second language acquisition strategies
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills
  • Ability to:
    • Communicate effectively in both English and Spanish (oral and written)
    • Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
    • Differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
    • Work collaboratively and independently
    • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Experience with Skyward or similar student information systems preferred
  • Prior teaching experience preferred
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range of $47,208 - $56,526 (based on education and experience per the collective bargaining agreement)
