Applied Behavior Analyst (ABA)

Location: Districtwide
Reports To: Special Education Administrator
Employment Type: Full Time
Schedule: School-Year Calendar

Position Overview

The Applied Behavior Analyst (ABA) provides behavioral assessment, intervention, and consultation services for students requiring behavioral support. The ABA collaborates with educators, support staff, and families to improve student success across academic, social, and behavioral domains.

Work Schedule
  • Hours: 8:10 AM – 3:10 PM
  • Planning Time: 45 minutes daily
  • Lunch: 30-minute duty-free lunch
Key Responsibilities Assessment & Evaluation
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
  • Analyze behavioral data to identify patterns and needs
  • Contribute to the development and review of IEPs
Intervention & Program Development
  • Design and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
  • Develop individualized behavior and skill‑acquisition programs
  • Monitor effectiveness and adjust interventions as needed
Collaboration
  • Work with teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrators
  • Participate in IEP meetings and problem‑solving teams
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
Training & Support
  • Provide staff training on ABA strategies and behavior management
  • Model interventions and support classroom implementation
  • Offer ongoing coaching and feedback
Data Collection & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
  • Track progress toward IEP goals
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
Qualifications Required
  • Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or related field
  • Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Eligibility for or possession of an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
Preferred
  • Prior experience in a school setting
  • Knowledge of IEP processes and special education law
  • Experience working with students with autism and behavioral challenges

Compensation
  • Salary will be in alignment with the Dolton Education Association (DEA) Union Contract
