Automation Controls Maintenance Specialist

Role Snapshot- Own preventive maintenance and service scheduling for plant equipment.
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair motors, breakers, transformers, switches, relays, UPS systems, and lighting.
- Calibrate and maintain transmitters, valves, flow meters, and sensors.
- Support PLC maintenance and troubleshooting; work confidently with 12/24 VDC and 120 VAC control circuits.
- Read/interpret schematics; support power distribution and VFD wiring across 120/208/240/480 VAC.
- Run conduit, perform panel work, and execute system modifications and repairs.
- Leverage MS Windows, Excel, AutoCAD, and industrial software daily.
- Document changes, update electrical schematics, and maintain clear, organized records.
- Collaborate with maintenance mechanics, engineering, project management, and operators to resolve breakdowns and improve reliability.
- Apply EPA, OSHA, and NFPA 70 standards; validate E‑stops and safety circuits; perform root‑cause analysis.
- Manage parts inventory and complete related administrative tasks.
On-site in Chicago, Illinois. 1st shift hours:
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. Overtime as needed. Pay: $42.75/hr.
- Associate degree in Electronics or Electrical Technology, or Certificate/Diploma with 2+ years in manufacturing/industrial (strongly preferred); or 3+ years of related hands‑on experience.
- Proficiency with ladder logic, function block programming, PLC hardware, and tag structures.
- Experience with Rockwell Automation software.
- Knowledge of industrial networking and control systems.
- Comfort with hand tools and physically demanding work (bend, twist, lift up to 60 lbs.).
- Able to work indoors/outdoors in industrial settings, including respirator‑required areas.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Excellent Health & Safety knowledge, including Lockout/Tagout.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint).
