Position Summary

Calumet Armature is seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined General Laborer to support daily operations within a fast‑paced industrial environment. This role is responsible for assisting with a variety of shop tasks including equipment handling, basic mechanical work, and the use of hand and power tools. The ideal candidate is safety‑focused, eager to learn, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with general shop and production duties as assigned
  • Operate and safely use hand tools and power tools (grinders, drills, impact tools, etc.)
  • Support disassembly and assembly of electric motors, pumps, and related equipment
  • Clean, prep, and organize parts and components for repair or rebuild
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks under the direction of experienced technicians
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety standards
  • Assist with material handling including moving parts, loading/unloading, and staging materials
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Inspect tools and equipment to ensure proper working condition
  • Support other departments as needed to meet production goals

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical environment preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Basic understanding of shop equipment and safety practices
  • Ability to read basic instructions, work orders, and follow directions
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work in a team‑oriented environment
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment with varying temperatures, noise, and dust
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
Work Environment
  • Industrial shop setting supporting motor and equipment repair operations
  • Exposure to machinery, moving parts, and shop tools
  • Fast‑paced, hands‑on work environment
