Senior Custodian, Dining Services

Overview

UC Riverside's Dining Services is recruiting for a partial‑year career Senior Custodian. The position is scheduled 10 months of the year (September through June), with July and August off as leave without pay. Salary range: $20.05 – $27.51 per hour.

• Perform routine and emergency cleaning and general maintenance for all UCR Dining, Hospitality, and Child Development facilities.
• Clean windows, mirrors, floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, carpets, appliances, drinking fountains, and related fixtures.
• Clean kitchen areas, dining rooms, offices, resident rooms, classrooms, bathrooms, showers, lounges, and apartments – including stoves, ovens, and refrigerators.
• Sanitize food‑production areas, kitchen equipment, counters, exhaust filters, and hoods.
• Prepare rooms for summer conference groups and special events by cleaning rooms, moving furniture, and making up beds with linens and towels.
• Set up and restore areas for catered events, conferences, and other specials per contract requirements.
• Clean and sanitize the Child Development Center to state‑mandated standards.
• Use sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, stripping, waxing, polishing, and graffiti removal to maintain appearance and cleanliness of buildings.
• Move furniture, fixtures, and equipment to enable effective cleaning.
• Clean up biohazards such as blood, vomit, rodent droppings, dead animals, and raw sewage.
• Move and empty trash and recycling containers, as well as dumpsters.
• Clean construction debris from new construction and major refurbishment or remodeling projects.
• Maintain exteriors by sweeping, blowing down sidewalks and stairs, and cleaning with high‑pressure washers and riding sidewalk scrubbers.
• Assist with pool maintenance, including cleaning and adding water or chemicals as needed.
