After-School Cooking Instructor

iCook After School is an innovative educational company that provides a really fun, hands-on after-school cooking and nutrition education program for children age K-4. The focus of the program is to enrich the lives of children by teaching them to love everything about food – cooking, eating delicious and healthful dishes, and learning about different cultures and stories behind the food.

What you will be doing: ul> li>Lead after school cooking classes for elementary students (K-4) while getting them excited about trying fun and creative recipes, new foods and encouraging them to learn about new cuisines and cultures li>Teach provided lesson plans related to basics of nutrition and healthy eating to kids in a fun and engaging way li>Introduce kids to basic cutting and measuring techniques, food safety, table manners and other concepts provided in the curriculum li>Purchase groceries for each class based on the recipes provided (we reimburse separately for the groceries) /ul> What we are looking for: ul> li>Experience working with large group of kids (can be in school setting, summer camp etc.)
li>Enthusiastic about teaching, cooking and nutrition li>Effective classroom management skills li>Energetic personality and ability to keep students engaged during the class li>Punctuality and reliability, with access to a reliable form of transportation /ul> What your schedule will look like: ul> li>All our classes run in the afternoon between 3-4pm, depending on the school, and typically run for one hour. li>Classes run once per day, Monday through Friday, so the maximum is 5 classes per week (one per day).
li>We do our best to match you with schools convenient to you, but the number of days and specific schedule you're offered depends on your start date, completion of onboarding, and current class availability in your area. li>Pay: $60-$70 per class (1 hour class time). This rate accounts for approximately two hours of total work per class, including preparation and clean-up.
/ul> p>Classes will be held at various school sites across Newport Mesa Unified School District (USD) in Costa Mesa, California

Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire to meet school partnership regulations.

ul> li>Ability to stand and move throughout a classroom setting during program instruction. li>Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel as needed during program setup, instruction, and cleanup. li>Ability to regularly lift, carry, and transport program materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
