Job Description
Title: Full Time Special Education Para-Professional
Reports To: Director of Special Education
Effective: School Year
Job Goal: To perform duties that are necessary and appropriate to ensure special education students receive services outlined in their Individual Educational Program in accordance with federal law under the supervision of qualified special education teachers. Educational services include assistance with learning, personal care and/or physical support for special education students as needed.
Qualifications:
- Paraprofessional License (ELS-PARA), SUB certificate or Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Physical ability to assist with lifting students (as needed), climb stairs, walk extensively, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to communicate (written/verbal), make decisions, resolve conflict, and effectively work with staff, students, and Administration
Key Accountabilities:
- Accommodate the special needs of students with learning, physical, emotional/behavioral, and/or cognitive disabilities.
- Assist the teacher in providing students with equal access to district adopted core curriculum in various settings.
- Update the teacher(s) regarding student progress.
- Provide direct assistance to ensure appropriate care for students who are physically and/or medically fragile, including the provision of personal care needs.
- Assist in implementing instruction necessary for students to meet academic and behavioral expectations, and IEP goals.
- Assist with the preparation of, and work with specialized instructional materials.
- Duplicate and assemble instructional materials using office equipment, computer, and AV equipment.
- Incorporate the Six Pillars of Character Counts:

Employment: School Year
Compensation: RBEA Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule - Category IV $20.50/hour
