Custodian

Custodian (Evening shift) – 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, full-time with benefits.

The custodian provides custodial services to maintain a safe, clean, and attractive environment for students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include performing cleaning operations, preparing facilities for classroom activities and events, supporting other custodians, and ensuring assignments are completed safely and timely.

• Assist with site snow removal and treat icy surfaces to ensure safety.
• Clean assigned facilities and/or grounds to maintain a sanitary environment.
• Consult with administrative personnel for scheduling custodial activities.
• Deliver supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc., to appropriate parties.
• Distribute custodial supplies and equipment to staff and storage locations.
• Provide information and direction regarding safety and maintenance to students and staff.
• Inspect facilities to ensure safe operations and identify necessary repairs.
• Maintain supplies and equipment to ensure availability.
• Monitor students and staff in work areas to prevent injuries.
• Oversee facility maintenance activities and custodial personnel.
• Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars.
• Participate in training and drills with students and staff (fire, intruder, earthquake, health and safety, etc.).
• Perform minor maintenance on custodial equipment.
• Prepare written materials: supply requisitions, safety inspections, work orders, inventory records, timesheets.
• Prepare site for daily operations: opening gates, raising flags, sweeping walkways.
• Replenish classroom and restroom supplies.
• Requisition equipment, supplies and materials.
• Respond to immediate safety/operational concerns.
• Respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and/or visitors.
• Secure facilities and grounds to minimize property damage.
• Support other site maintenance staff.
• Train assigned personnel in safety awareness.
• Transport tools, equipment, supplies.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
• Skills:
  
  operating equipment, adhering to safety practices, preparing and maintaining accurate records.
• Knowledge: basic math, reading manuals, writing documents, presenting information, understanding multi‑step instructions; knowledge of industrial cleaning methods, basic tool use, safety practices.
• Ability: schedule activities, gather and collate data, adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines, work with diverse individuals, problem solving, use equipment.

Physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, fine finger dexterity. The job requires 15% sitting, 35% walking, 50% standing. Exposure to risk of injury or illness.
