Summary of Primary Functions

This position will provide full support consultation and resolution directly with customers and dealers. Full support consultation may include assisting with parts, equipment delivery, technical problem resolution, classroom training, on‑site training, field technical service, and other duties as assigned. The role is a front‑facing customer position where developing positive impressions and relationships is critical, as is delivering quality and timely solutions.

The position directly reports to the Division Sales Manager. This description does not list every duty; additional tasks may be assigned.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Lead all new machine deliveries and setup.
  • Assist in day‑to‑day customer problem solving and technical questions.
  • Maintain outstanding telephone and customer relations skills.
  • Maintain and nurture existing customer and dealer relationships.
  • Understand and communicate information regarding company products, services, policies, and procedures to new and existing customers.
  • Travel to customer or dealer locations to train and/or repair equipment (including overnight stays).
  • Inspect new equipment before delivery.
  • Provide technical input into revisions of manuals.
  • Transport truck chassis and/or mounted units to vendors for contracted services as needed.
  • Provide on‑site expertise for demonstrations, machine inspections, and technical support.
  • Maintain a contact management database and call log for the designated territory.
  • Attend training and sales meetings to stay current with new equipment and special deals.
  • Provide feedback to other departments.

Key Competencies
  • Experience with the John Deere product line and road machinery line.
  • Basic technical aptitude for diagnosing and repairing heavy machinery equipment.
  • Intellectual competencies: high intelligence, problem analysis, creativity, pragmatism.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to complete work and assignments with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Customer orientation toward service and building relationships.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and possess high personal competencies with integrity, initiative, resourcefulness, and planning.
  • Compatible with working extended hours as necessary.
  • Knowledge of road machinery products, Deere products and applications.
Qualifications
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a mechanical background.
Education, Skill, and/or Experience Requirements
  • 2–3 years of customer service background with mechanical and service experience.
  • Bilingual ability is preferred but not required.
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
Work Environment

The work environment includes occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually quiet.

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.
