Maintenance Technician/Handyman - Roanoke Job description
Fidura & Associates, Inc. is a statewide provider of residential services for adults with Developmental Disabilities. We currently have two group homes in Roanoke County and are seeking an individual to be responsible for the general maintenance of those homes on a Part-Time basis
. Most responsibilities are more "handy-man" type tasks; larger repairs (major plumbing, electrical, etc.) are handled by the property owner(s). Would be a perfect position for someone who is partially retired.
This could also be a Full-Time position with benefits for someone interested in travel to our Staunton region 2-3 days a week (with paid travel/mileage).
Professional maintenance experience preferred but not required
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- completing basic, structural repairs such as patching drywall, repairing broken glass, repairing floor damage, mounting grab bars
- repairing doors and door locks
- responding to minor plumbing needs
- maintaining light fixtures
- yard work (grass cutting, raking leaves, trimming hedges, removing bulk trash, being proactive in rodent/snake control)
- assembly/repair of furniture and appliances (assembling new furniture, repairing damaged furniture, maintaining vacuum cleaners)
- painting as needed
- replacing keys, having keys made
- troubleshooting
- Conducting routine inspections in the residential units; this may include:
- replacing filters as scheduled
- monitoring smoke detectors and fire extinguishers; purchase, repair, replace as needed
- Assists in moving furniture
Maintenance experience and own tools strongly preferred

- Hours worked must be between Monday & Friday - between 20 to 30 Hours Per Week, No Weekends
Requirements:
- Must be able to bend, kneel and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must have reliable transportation and acceptable driving record (mileage reimbursed for all job-related travel)
- Must be willing to travel within the Roanoke region on a regular basis
- Must maintain and properly communicate an active telephone number for required company contacts
- Ability to complete all required documentation, including but not limited to work orders, purchase orders and time sheets

Pay: $18.00 to $21.91 per hour
Expected hours:
Between 20 to 30 hours per week
