Facility Maintenance Technician; Eureka Recreation Center

City of Roanoke is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in support of the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the Eureka Recreation Center. This position plays a key role in ensuring the facility remains safe, functional, and well‑maintained for public use, programs, and rentals.

• Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and facility fixtures to ensure proper operation and reduce downtime.
• Complete minor repairs such as basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance tasks.
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner and troubleshoot issues as they arise to support continuous facility operations.
• Coordinate closely with the City’s Facilities Maintenance Division to report larger maintenance needs, schedule repairs beyond in‑house capabilities, and assist with contractor coordination as needed.
• Assist with facility inspections, monitor equipment conditions, and help ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and apply practical knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices.
• Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with staff, supervisors, contractors, and other city departments.
• Minimum education/experience equivalent to high school.
