Airport Maintenance Technician

As an Airport Maintenance Technician, you'll tackle a variety of important tasks that keep our airport running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:

• Grounds Maintenance
  :
  Mowing, landscaping, planting, pruning, mulching, weeding, and maintaining fences.
• Paved Areas
  :
  Sweeping, repairing, and ensuring the safety of all paved surfaces, including airport runways
• Equipment Operation
  :
  Operating, fueling, and cleaning trucks, tractors, and other powered tools.
• Weather Response
  :
  Removing snow and ice during winter conditions.

This position is primarily on the Airfield Maintenance team; however, you will be cross‑trained on some facilities maintenance to include:

• Building Repairs
  :
  Plumbing, painting, carpentry, masonry, and other facility maintenance tasks.
• Airfield Systems
  :
  Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems, as well as security gates and passenger loading bridges.

This job involves working outdoors in all types of weather. This position is a day shift role but does require one week of evening shifts and one weekend rotation every 7-8 weeks. The rotation is shared among the team, ensuring coverage while keeping the schedule fair and predictable.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• A High School diploma or equivalent.
• Hands‑on experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, pavement maintenance or similar. Facilities maintenance or trades experience is a plus.
• A team player with a strong work ethic and problem‑solving mindset
• A valid Virginia driver's license and a clean driving record.
• The ability to pass a TSA security clearance and drug test.
