Facility Maintenance Technician; Eureka Recreation Center

Description

The City of Roanoke is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in support of the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the Eureka Recreation Center. This position plays a key role in ensuring the facility remains safe, functional, and well-maintained for public use, programs, and rentals.

Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and facility fixtures to ensure proper operation and reduce downtime. Complete minor repairs such as basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance tasks. Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner and troubleshoot issues as they arise to support continuous facility operations. Coordinate closely with the City’s Facilities Maintenance Division to report larger maintenance needs, schedule repairs beyond in-house capabilities, and assist with contractor coordination as needed.

Assist with facility inspections, monitor equipment conditions, and help ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures. Work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and apply practical knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices. Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, contractors, and other city departments.

Minimum requirements include any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school.
