Custodian II​/Oakland Center

• High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years prior custodial experience preferably in a university environment/residential setting.
• The ability to read directions for the use and/or mixing of various cleaning chemicals and compounds and written instructions.
• Good interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with customers such as students, co‑workers, management and parents.
• Performs physically active work requiring frequent standing, reaching, walking, bending, shoveling, pulling, pushing, climbing on a ladder and lifting in order to perform various cleaning and set‑up tasks.
• Frequent lifting requiring the execution of up to sixty pounds of force to move and use supplies, use cleaning aids and equipment.
• Works with cleaning chemicals and compounds and polishing materials that may produce strong and/or offensive odors.
• May work in various weather conditions with extremes in heat and cold.
• Completion of physical to verify the applicant’s ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Work sample to demonstrate the applicant’s ability to perform the duties of the position.
• May require a valid Michigan driver’s license acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier.

5347 - Housing Facilities

To perform cleaning activities and maintain assigned areas in the residential housing buildings and the Oakland Center building.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
