Kitchen Helper
Type of Position:
Hourly. Hours may vary based on program needs.
Reports To:
Supervisor of Nutritional Services, First Cook, Building Principals. Supervision:
None. Salary: $17.20 - $18.13/hr.
Qualifications:
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years' work-related experience. Preferred
• Bilingual
• Basic cashiering skills
• Knowledge of customer service principles.
Position Summary:
The Kitchen Helper is responsible for performing routine kitchen duties including food preparation, serving breakfast and/or lunch to students and staff, dishwashing, cashiering, and cleaning.
Essential Duties:
- Prepare food as directed by head cooks
- Set up serving lines
- Serve food to students and staff
- Keep service areas and food dispensers cleaned and stocked
- Count and record quantities of food sold on daily and weekly sheets
- Compile food and supply orders
- Receive money for cash sales in ala carte line
- Assist with cleaning the kitchen, cooking equipment, and serving areas, including operating commercial dishwashing equipment
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Factors:
Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, seeing, and repetitive motions. Light Work: lifting up to 40 pounds and/or exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible force constantly to move objects.
