SalarySalary: $23.09 (entry level) to $26.02 an hour plus an additional rate based upon licenses held.

Essential Functions- Complies with all School District, city, state and OSHA policies and procedures.
- Provides cleaning services for Rochester Public Schools, will be used to sub at different locations if needed.
- The Custodian II fills in for the Custodian Night Leads at all secondary schools when the Custodian Night Lead is not on site.
- Completes all duties listed on the daily cleaning schedule and maintains daily upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
- Performs a variety of cleaning and semi-skilled duties which includes but is not limited to
: vacuuming, extracting carpets, mopping, washing tables, dusting, stripping and waxing floors, garbage and litter pick up, windows, bathrooms, hallways, classrooms, cafeterias, kitchens, gymnasiums, moving heavy furniture, changing burnt out light bulbs, etc. - Organizes and cleans assigned custodial closet and carts.
- Ensures building and property is secure during shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to Custodial Night Lead.
- Operates motorized equipment used for cleaning and snow removal.
- Removal of snow/ice and application of snow melt around the building to ensure safety.
- Moves up to 50 pounds of project materials and/or tools to remote building locations.
- Stands on ladders and platform lifts at heights up to 30 feet for extended periods of time.
- Working conditions involve, but are not limited to the following activities: reaching, crouching; kneeling; shoveling; working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back, and heavy lifting.
- Works under the supervision of the Custodian Lead and the Facilities Supervisor.
- Performs other duties assigned by Custodian Lead and the Facilities Supervisor.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Special Boilers Operator License preferred, not required.
- Minnesota Driver's License.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills are required.
- Ability to work effectively with others and utilize effective team-building skills.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and use of industrial cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of safe use of cleaning chemicals, PPE and disposal of chemical liquids.
- Basic understanding of the upkeep, care and safe operation of motorized equipment used for cleaning i.e. auto scrubber, buffer, snow blower, genie lift, pressure washer, extractors, sweeper, Kaivac, etc.
- Using a backpack vacuum for cleaning is required.
- Remove snow when required during day and night or on weekends.
- Willingness to learn and share new and better methods of cleaning with supervisors.
- Stooping, bending, occasional awkward positions. Must be able to lift over 50 lbs., 80 lbs. assisted.
- Ability to work in moderately hazardous conditions in outdoor environments and within buildings.
- Moves up to 50 pounds of project materials and/or tools to remote building locations.
- Erect and stand on scaffolding, ladders, and platform lifts, at heights up to 30 feet for extended periods of time.
