Location: City of Rochester

Varsity Campus is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our campus facilities. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Maintenance Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for performing both routine and specialized maintenance tasks across the campus.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Conducting regular inspections to identify and resolve any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Repairing and replacing faulty equipment, fixtures, or parts as necessary.
  • Painting, drywall patching, and general repairs to walls, ceilings, and floors.
  • Maintaining and repairing plumbing systems, ensuring proper functioning of drains, fixtures, and water supply.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, including lights, switches, outlets, and circuit breakers.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing common areas and amenities.
2. Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies:
  • Addressing maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
  • Diagnosing issues and resolving them in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating with the Maintenance Supervisor and other team members to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Responding to emergency maintenance calls outside of regular working hours when necessary.
  • Conducting regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify areas for preventive maintenance.
  • Performing preventive maintenance tasks, such as lubricating machinery, changing filters, and testing safety devices.
  • Creating and maintaining a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule.
4. Maintain inventory and equipment:
  • Maintaining an accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ordering and restocking necessary supplies as required.
  • Ensuring all tools and equipment are in good working condition and complying with safety regulations.
5. Collaborate with other departments:
  • Communicating and collaborating with other departments to address maintenance-related issues and concerns.
  • Assisting with the setup and breakdown of campus events as required.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to adhere to them at all times.
Work Environment:

The Maintenance Technician will primarily work on-site at the Varsity Campus facilities. The position may require occasional travel between different campus locations. The individual will be exposed to varying weather conditions and may need to work outdoors. PPE (personal protective equipment) will be provided as required.

Hours:

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. The work schedule may involve weekends, evenings, and occasional on-call shifts to respond to emergencies.

Physical Requirements:

The Maintenance Technician must be able to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods. They must also have the physical capability to perform repairs and maintenance duties in various campus locations.
