Essential Functions
  • Complies with all School District and OSHA policies.
  • The Custodial Night Lead assumes charge of the building when the Custodian Lead VI is not on site.
  • Assist Facilities Manager in scheduling and training of staff as needed or directed.
  • Provides and assigns additional work direction and assistance to custodial staff as approved by Assistant Facilities Manager or the Custodian Lead VI.
  • Completes all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains daily upkeep of assigned area and equipment performs janitorial duties.
  • Ensures building and property is secure during shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to Assistant Facilities Manager and Building Principal.
  • Operates motorized equipment used for cleaning and snow removal.
  • Removal of snow/ice and application of snow melt around the building to insure safety.
  • Maintains inventory for cleaning supplies/equipment and informs Custodian Lead VI when items are needed.
  • Provides instructions for nightly special event set ups and assigns appropriate coverage with the Custodian Lead VI’s prior approval.
  • Performs a variety of cleaning and semi-skilled duties which includes but is not limited to: vacuuming, mopping, washing tables, windows, bathrooms, dusting, waxing, stripping floors, moving heavy furniture, etc.
  • Moves up to 50 pounds of project materials and/or tools to remote building locations.
  • Erect and stand on scaffolding, ladders, and platform lifts, at heights up to 30 feet for extended periods of time.
  • Performs essential maintenance to the facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: reaching, crouching; kneeling; shoveling; working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
  • Works under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, Assistant Facilities Manager, Building Principal and the Chief Operations Officer.
  • Performs other duties within the level of responsibility assigned by the Assistant Facilities Manager.
License Requirement
  • Minnesota Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Special boiler’s license required.
Required Skills
  • 3-5 years custodial leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and utilize effective team‑building skills
  • Experience and knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of the upkeep, care and safe operation of motorized equipment used for cleaning i.e. auto scrubber, buffer, snow blower, genie lift, pressure washer, extractors, sweeper, Kaivac, etc.
  • Able and willing to use a backpack vacuum for cleaning is required.
  • Willingness to learn and share new and better methods of cleaning with supervisors.
