Janitor, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Facility Maintenance
Job Summary
The Custodian is responsible for general maintenance and cleanliness of equipment, facilities, and grounds. This position is also referred to as Janitor and performs other tasks as required.

Essential Functions- Performs heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning plant equipment using compressed air and other methods.
- Scrubs, sanitizes, vacuums, sweeps, and mops.
- Disposes of trash, cleans up spills, replaces air fresheners, changes light bulbs, locks doors, paints, maintains water coolers, and prepares facilities for events such as meetings or banquets.
- Clears walkways of snow or leaves and trims shrubbery.
- Applies insecticides and fumigants and performs other outside maintenance.
- Participates in safety programs such as committees or emergency contingencies, uses personal protective equipment as needed, and notifies supervision of repair needs, spills, safety concerns or hazardous situations.
- Keeps records of maintenance, monitors cleaning supplies, and restocks supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and other areas.
- Operates a powered industrial truck to move, transfer, load and unload.
- Continuously meets efficiency and safety standards for the position.
- Follows instructions as directed by supervision.
- Keeps work area neat and clean.
- Performs other tasks as required.
- Works in other production positions as needed.
- Recognizes colors and sizes, counts and sorts accurately.
- In some locations, must be able and certified to safely operate a powered industrial truck.
- Possesses basic knowledge of cleaning products and procedures or is willing to learn.
- Can prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively with a team.
- Works independently, comprehends and follows written or verbal direction.

- Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, working in cramped areas, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting up to 90 lbs., carrying up to 50 lbs., and stooping.
- Inside and outside areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, in general offices, outside grounds, and variations in temperature, odors, humidity, lint and dust.
