University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men is seeking a dependable and proactive School Maintenance Worker to support the upkeep and operation of school facilities and grounds. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, clean, and functional learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The Maintenance Worker works under the direct supervision of the Chief Operations Officer/Chief Financial Officer

• Perform minor and major building repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing, and other infrastructure
• Maintain school grounds, including mowing, landscaping, trimming, snow removal, and litter control
• Assist with general cleaning duties in classrooms, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and common areas
• Identify and address safety hazards; ensure compliance with applicable regulations
• Monitor and maintain tools, equipment, and supplies; notify supervisors when replenishment is needed
• Collaborate with staff and administration to prioritize and complete maintenance requests
• Assist with setup and breakdown for school events and activities
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues and facility-related concerns
• Perform routine inspections of the building interior and exterior
• Support emergency response efforts related to facility issues
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in facility maintenance, repairs, or groundskeeping preferred

• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems
• Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs

• Knowledge of general maintenance and repair practices
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic facility issues
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance needs
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments in varying conditions

$16.00 – $25.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
