Floor Technician

Job Overview

The Floor Technician will be responsible for safely performing assigned floor care functions based on standards and procedures, performing environmental services as needed, and carrying out floor care such as waxing, stripping, buffing, and other contractual duties according to regulations.

• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures. Stop at risk behaviors in others and self.
• Work with other employees in a team to complete assignments.
• Maintain clean work area.
• Follow all company procedures, policies, and rules.
• Take direction and respond to supervision.
• Talk with lead, supervisor, co‑workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner.
• Fill in during staff shortages, such as in custodial, recycle, or maintenance.
• Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items.
• Use proper personal protective equipment that is required for assigned tasks.
• Present a professional appearance and conduct.
• Understand customer service and satisfaction.
• Understand reporting systems, and the environment.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment.
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of all floors: tile, carpet, and brick flooring.
• Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
• Utilize the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
• Use and maintain equipment properly.
• Operate and maintain all equipment correctly and safely.
• Always observe safety precautions, using safety signs “wet floor.”
• Ability to work without normal supervision.
• Report safety hazards as appropriate.

Education and Experience
:
No formal education requirement. Six months to one year of experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
:
May be required to have a valid driver’s license, complete all safety and task training certifications, and may be required to be forklift certified.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share with team.
• Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

• Frequently required to sit and talk or listen. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
• Work environment includes frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals and motorized equipment.

On call:
Monday – Sunday, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm. Hourly rate: $17.00 – $18.00. Hours and work day vary depending on floor project work.
